AttireClothing; specifically, appropriate clothing for competitive events. Different classes have different guidelines. Events vary in formality, but in general, English classes are more conservative than Western, and evening events are more formal than daytime events. The clothing of the rider should suit the class, complementing the horse and not distracting or detracting from his performance. Riders with long hair should wear it pulled back in a neat bun; hair nets are recommended. For all riders, safe riding attire includes an ASTM/SEI-approved helmet and sturdy shoes or boots with a heel to keep the foot from sliding through the stirrup. |
